Slidesports Race Engineering are proud to welcome Team BRIT along with their talented line up of drivers for the upcoming 2016 season.
With just under 3 weeks until the teams first outing of the year at the Silverstone leg of the International 24hr series powered by Hankook, Team BRIT will be looking to build on a stellar set of results in 2015 and take the series by storm.
A strong driver line up has already been announced for the first race weekend of the season on the 1/2/3 April at Silverstone, the home of British motorsport. The team are to be made up of Julian Thomas, Mark Allen, David Pittard and Martyn Compton.
Team BRIT have made it no secret they have ambitions to one day be the first team of injured service personnel to race at Le Mans so a strong showing in the international 24hr series is the first step towards that. Slidesports race engineering will be looking to use their already considerable experience from the Volkswagen Racing Cup and knowledge of the DSG gearbox to take Team BRIT’S specially adapted Mk6 Volkswagen Golf GTI and make it as competitive and reliable for the drivers as possible throughout the upcoming season.
Mark Jenkins - Team principal
“I would like to extend a warm welcome to Team BRIT for the upcoming 2016 season. We are expecting some fantastic results. Ultimately, 24 hour racing is going to be really arduous for the mechanics, the team and the drivers especially with their disabilities. They are going to have to call upon all their resources. We are really looking forward to the challenge and will be introducing a lot more engineering into their skills to try and push them even further.”
